Jadun McCarthy

2012 Georgia Teacher of the Year

          Mr. McCarthy began his educational journey in the Bibb County School District. Throughout his primary and secondary education, he attended Walter P. Jones Elementary School, Appling Middle School, and Northeast Magnet High School. While a student at Northeast Magnet High School, he participated in the Governor's Honors Program, BETA Club, DECA, Quiz Bow, and numerous other extracurricular activities.

          Following his graduation from Northeast, Mr. McCarthy enrolled in Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, where he majored in English. Subsequent to receiving his Bachelors of Arts from Morehouse College, Mr. McCarthy attended the University of Georgia School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor degree. Following his graduation from law school, Mr. McCarthy returned to his alma mata and joined the faculty of Northeast Magnet High School as an English/Language Arts Instructor, a position in which he has served since 2005.
